Vibroacoustic Therapy at harbor health

Sound + Vibration = Deep Relaxation for Mind + Body

What is Vibroacoustic Therapy?

Vibroacoustic Therapy is a multi-sensory wellness technique that combines gentle vibrations and sound frequencies to support relaxation and recovery.

This technology is delivered via the Sage Space Sensory Lounge with curated audio programs that the user can select based on preference.

Soothing vibrations, that many users equate to a massaging sensation, are synced to specially chosen sound programs for a relaxing, meditative-like experience.

What happens during a session?

  • A staff member will go over controls with you and help you select a sound program for your experience
  • You will lie comfortably on the Sage Space sound bed and be provided with an eye mask (optional) and aromatherapy choice (optional)
  • Vibroacoustic transducers send low-frequency vibration through the bed while synchronized sounds/music plays through headphones
  • Red Light Therapy, an additional service, can be selected to run during your experience if desired
  • Sessions usually last about 30 minutes- shorter or longer times may be offered depending on your needs

What conditions may be helped with vibroacoustic therapy?

Early research and patient experiences suggest it may support:

  • Stress, tension, and anxiety
  • Sleep difficulties and fatigue
  • Muscle stiffness and general aches
  • Mood balance and overall well-being
  • Relaxation during recovery from everyday strain

Important note: Vibroacoustic therapy is considered a complementary wellness service. It is not a medical treatment or cure, and results vary from person to person.

Who should not use vibroacoustic therapy?

For safety reasons, vibroacoustic therapy is not recommended for individuals with:

  • Implanted electronic devices (e.g., pacemakers, defibrillators)
  • Active deep vein thrombosis or known blood clots
  • Serious cardiac arrhythmias
  • Seizure disorders not well controlled
  • Acute infections, open wounds, or recent surgery near the area of vibration
  • Pregnancy (precautionary, due to limited research)

Always consult with your healthcare provider before beginning any new wellness therapy, especially if you have significant medical conditions.
